ABOUT
William Thompson, known professionally as Will the Artist, is a contemporary portrait artist working at the intersection of fine art, culture, and digital storytelling.
His practice centres on creating highly detailed portraits that are submerged in layers of resin, preserving moments, people, and stories as if frozen in time. Beyond the finished artwork, Will’s work is designed to live as both a physical piece and a piece of content, capturing the full creative journey from first brushstroke to final reveal.
Will has collaborated with musicians, athletes, and global brands, including Universal Music, where his work formed the centrepiece of social-first campaigns. These projects combined the creation of the artwork with filmed reveals and genuine reactions, generating buzz around the artist, the subject, and the brand simultaneously. The result is work that feels celebratory, authentic, and deeply human, using art as a way to spotlight and honour real talent.
Originally trained in graphic design, Will developed his multidisciplinary approach while studying at Central Saint Martins, blending painting, design, and filmmaking into a single creative output. His work has since been viewed by over 100 million people worldwide across digital platforms.
